DAY 3

Breakfast.

Free day or optional excursion to Florence or Naples (additional fee 89 € and tickets ~100 €)

Florence is the city where the Renaissance flourished in the 15th century, with Dontello, Botticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci as its protagonists. It was here that banking flourished, making the gold florin the first “European single currency”. In Florence, Dante, Boccaccio and Petrarch composed the first volumes of European literature. Giotto and Arnolfo di Cambio created their masterpieces on the banks of the Arno. And today, a leisurely stroll along the Old Bridge and Dante's Quarter, a seat in the Piazza Signoria and the open-air museum, the Loggia Lance, are the setting for the inimitable “European workshop”.

Naples - a city of contrasts. It's impossible not to fall in love with its neighbourhoods. There are the Spanish Quarters, a little Barcelona, the galleries that are as good as those that adorn the centre of Milan, and the royal palaces and theatres that can be found in the Italian capital. But most importantly, Naples has a history of almost 3000 years, with its own language and unique cuisine, with its own saints and heroes. It is where the history of the Roman Empire ends, where Sophia Lorena was born and grew up and, finally, where you can taste an authentic Neapolitan pizza.
